OOC PREFERENCES:
CONTACT METHOD: I can be found on plurk at [plurk.com profile] madeofseaglass, or on discord at Marvelous#1389. Those are by far the easiest ways to get in touch with me, but PMing this journal is also fine.

THREAD-JACKING: Totally fine. Don't mind at all.

FOURTH WALLING / CANON PUNCTURE: Fourth walling please no, canon puncture sure.

BACKTAGGING: I will pretty much always backtag into infinity.

AVOIDED TOPICS: None to speak of. I'm pretty good at communicating my boundaries as they come up.

PREFERRED GENDER PRONOUN: Mine are he/him or they/them. Gerry will stick with he/him, assuming he bothers to care.

IC CHARACTERISTICS:
CURRENT CANON POINT: After Jon burns his page in MAG 117.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A normal human, average height, thin and pale with a scrawny build. He has longish hair that is dyed black--poorly, done on the cheap. He has small eye tattoos over every single joint on his body, including the knuckles, and another just above his heart. Though he was only 28 when he died, he looks older; most would probably guess in his 30s. He's frequently unshaven and looks like he hasn't slept in weeks.

He has a distinctly goth aesthetic, so make your assumptions accordingly. All black clothes are the usual. On the occasion that he deviates from this, which does happen, I'll mention it specifically.

If your character ever happens to see under his clothes, or if he's wearing short sleeves: all the skin on his body (except for his neck, head, and a few centimeters surrounding each of his eye tattoos) has an odd mottled appearance that knowledgeable characters might recognize as second degree burn scars that are a few years old.

He speaks with an English accent, and despite his dark-and-serious aesthetic, his voice is light, sharp, and expressive, with a hard cynical edge and an everpresent dubious undertone. Take this link to jump to a time stamp with several minutes of just Gerry talking (albeit giving a statement, so it's more declarative than conversational). The weird echo in the background is an effect of him being dead and in spirit form, and will not be present on the barge.

DEMEANOR: To most people, Gerard will come off as cryptic, prickly, and distinctly unpleasant to interact with. He's used to inhabiting a world where 99.99% of people don't know what's really going on, so he operates off of that assumption without even thinking about it, and doesn't give most people the time of day. That's not to say he avoids people--he actually doesn't. He just doesn't pay them any mind one way or another unless they do something to draw his attention.

Assuming you can get him to talk to you, he'll view any conversation as essentially transactional, simply because he has no other model for how conversations work. Either he wants something, or you do; otherwise, piss off.

ABILITIES: Physically, he's a normal human, though he's relatively strong for his scrawny build. He's also been "marked" by several extradimensional entities--so if your character has some sort of powers that could detect such a thing, be my guest.

Talent-wise: he speaks French very well, and given how well traveled he is and how unlikely he is to rely on the kindness of others, he probably speaks several other languages at least conversationally. He can almost certainly read both Latin and Sanskrit. He's well researched on the occult, and probably also on various ancient cultures and languages. Also, he's a gifted painter.

MEDICAL INFORMATION: As mentioned above, he has second degree burn scars covering most of his body except for his head, neck, and a few centimeters surrounding each of his eye tattoos. When his physical body died, it was of previously undetected late stage brain cancer.

CABIN INFORMATION: The door is that of a dingy motel room, painted a nondescript blue-grey, with a corroded brassy room number 14. The interior is that of a cheap and shabby but basically serviceable room: there is a bed with lamp and nightstand, a table and chair, and even a small television. On the wall opposite the bed are scrawled a lot of messy, cryptic notes regarding the barge and its possible connection to the Entities from his world.

OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS: Gerry's... honestly pretty difficult to offend. Most of the people he knows are terrible, and he doesn't expect anyone else to be any better. If anything, the thing most likely to offend him might be treating him like he's a normal person: like he should want to live, want to have relationships or friendships, like he has options.

IC PERMISSIONS:
MENTAL: Sure, just ask me so I can hand you some stuff you can use.

MIMICRY: Sure.

VIOLENCE: Yeeep. He may even intentionally provoke it.

MAGIC: Maybe! Ask first.

DEBATE: Sure.

OTHER / NOTES: Nah.
